He lands on the planet Krypton as a &#8216;ghost&#8217; and can observe the scientifically advanced society.  He witnesses a scientist named <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jor-El\">Jor-el<\/a> who sends his child off the doomed planet. The story changes Superman in two fundamental ways forever:  He is now no longer invulnerable, and he now understands why he has powers and that he is an alien. It presages Lois Lane getting <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Superman%27s_Girl_Friend,_Lois_Lane\">her own comic book<\/a> years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codedread.com\/comicbooks\/?p=2479\">debut of Superboy comic<\/a>, I consider Superman #61 another major step in the evolution towards the Silver Age of comic books, an Early Silver Age.
