In Flash #106 (Feb 1959), the Flash creative team of John Broome and Carmine Infantino creates a couple new super-villains for the Scarlet Speedster. The first is the more believable: The Pied Piper<\/a> is a criminal with a “Super-Sonic Flute”. With it, he is the Master of Sound: able to manipulate vibrations in the air to paralyze the Flash or send giant waves of water crashing onto him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It pains me to say that a man with a magical flute who dresses in green tights is the more believable super-villain introduces in this issue, but the other is Gorilla Grodd<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grodd is the more famous Flash villain and is a super-intelligent evil gorilla that also has telepathic powers. He seeks to take control of Gorilla City, led by the benevolent gorilla, Solivar. Flash is able to team up with Solivar to defeat Grodd and remove his telepathic abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite my snark, within a very short number of stories, the Silver Age Flash has gained a pretty impressive rogue’s gallery of villains: Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Pied Piper, and Grodd.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
