The Silver Age Green Lantern earns his own comic magazine with Green Lantern #1 (May 1960). In it, we see Hal Jordan’s mind being transported to the Planet Oa where we meet the Guardians of the Universe for the first time, as the Green Lantern mythos begins to build out. Hal’s memory of this first meeting is erased once the Guardians vet that Hal is worthy to take over for Abin Sur as possessor of the power battery and guardian of sector 2814.
Green Lantern is the first DC comic book to start with his own letters column (“Green Lantern’s Mail Chute”) and happens to feature a lengthy letter from future comic book writer Roy Thomas in which he recommends that GL needs a friend/confidant, but not necessary Doiby Dickles, and that he should be give a regular enemy.
