By April 1949, the only DC superheroes left with their own books are the Trinity, but there is one exception: All-Star Comics. Amidst all the superhero comic book cancellations in the late 1940s in both Timely (Marvel) and DC Comics, the Justice Society of America continues to escape replacement by a horror or western comic! All-Star Comics #47 features the JSA battling, um well, the “Ghost of Billy the Kid”. Ok, don’t get too comfortable JSA :-/

By April 1949, this comic book may be the only place left to see six of these seven characters in action, but it couldn’t hurt sales to cash in on the western comics craze that has been booming for the last year or so, right?
