Lois Lane’s solo comic is providing many more instances of Superman being petty and using his abilities frivolously. In Lois Lane #8 (Feb 1959), for her birthday – but really just to “teach her a lesson” – Superman decides to give Lois Lane his super-powers. Clark then proceeds to put her into a series of situations where she has to be clever not to give away her secret identity.

Lois Lane has been Superwoman many times, both in continuity and in dreams, but what I find interesting about this story is that, after only a couple incidents, Lois decides to do the logical thing and reveal her identity to one of her dearest friends and confidantes (Clark) to make life easier:

This provides the reader a bit of a thrill of what it might be like for Clark to reveal his identity to Lois. Funny how DC didn’t really have the guts to do this in main comics continuity for another 31 years!
