Though Atlas Comics has not renamed itself “Marvel Comics”, Tales of Suspense #6 (July 1959), contains a pretty cool glimpse into the future. In the story “The Mutants and Me”, Vincent Farnsworth has an argument with Henry Marsh, who claims that mutants with powers must exist and hide among us. Later that evening, Vincent is accidentally trapped in his safe and freaks out, suddenly he is outside the safe. He theorizes that he is a mutant.

“In a moment of stress, some chemical reaction in my body must set off a force which enables me to move thru solid matter!”

Ok, it’s not the X-Men, but maybe Vincent Farnsworth had a daughter Theresa and is Kitty Pride’s maternal grandfather? 🙂
