In another outing of the Metal Men, chemical scientist Ramsey Norton dumps his failed chemical experiments into a plastic, human-shaped vessel, which he names Chemo. Somehow Chemo gains some form of sentience, animates the plastic vessel, grows to a gigantic size, and starts on a rampage, to topple buildings and proving impervious to police bullets.

Yay for the Metal Men, who try to come to the rescue. However, Chemo proves the perfect nemesis for this group, since he can apparently create any chemical effect he wants and proceeds to target specific metals by tarnishing Gold and rusting Iron.

Eventually Dr. Magnus and Platinum lead Chemo into underground caverns where twin gas jets lock Chemo like a vise, sealing him “forever” in a tomb.

I still can’t say I like the Metal Men, but the visual style of Chemo and the outlandishness of his origin did amuse me enough to tolerate them this issue.
