Last night in an online chat with the Home Theater Forum, Warners Home Video announced they have finally settled their legal issues with Hearst Entertainment and King Features Syndicate and are planning to release all the Popeye starting in 2007. I used to collect comic books as a kid throughout grade school and high school. Lately I've been getting nostalgic for those old superhero stories (maybe it's the upcoming Superman movie, I dunno). I even checked out a couple graphic novels from the library to get my comic book fix. However, it struck me that the web is a great medium for getting readers to these stories. Today at dinnertime, Joshua, one of our two-years olds, climbed up onto my chair and sat down, expecting to be fed.
Daddy: Joshua, that's Daddy's chair, you need to sit in your own chair.
Joshua: No, sit, sit ... chair!
Daddy: But if you sit there, where am I going to sit?
After thinking for a minute, Joshua pointed at the chair with his booster-seat strapped to it and said "Sit there".
Daddy: [Laughing] No, Daddy's too big to sit there.
At this point, Sam turned to me excitedly and asked: "Do you realize you are actually having a conversation with your son?".
I've thought about it, and of course I've had other "conversations" with both Joshua and Jacob before, but Sam asked me to remember this one in case she forgets it someday.
Sorry, have to keep this entry brief today. One place I forgot to mention yesterday was Morro Rock. Morro Rock is a small town up the Pacific Coast, north of Pismo Beach, that features a massive, well, rock. I would call it a mountain, but that's because I live in a flat portion of the continent and anything larger than a landfill looks like a mountain to me. Rob and I stopped there on our drive Sunday so I thought I'd post a few pictures to Flickr.
