High Fidelity. I've seen it twice now. I liked the movie a lot, it has some really snappy dialogue (script co-written by star John Cusack, who is very able in this movie) and a breakthrough performance by Jack Black. It serves to illuminate the overgrown adolescent male experience, but at the same time there are just some great scenes in the record shop. Like the one where Rob says "I will now sell 4 copies of the Beta Band EP", puts the music on for his browsing customers and the camera pans around the store as we watch the customers slowly digging "Dry The Rain". Read some funny dialogue snippets here.

But the soundtrack - I love the soundtrack. Was just listening to it now and thought I'd squirt a quick blog entry up...

Kurt Cagle mirrors my own thoughts on the Opera 9 Preview (changelog).

Kurt, your code sample is white-on-white...

I agree Opera 9 Technical Preview is an impressive achievement by anyone's standards. I would have been impressed with only the improved SVG support but all the other stuff (Canvas2D, XSLT,WebForms 2.0, XPath, xml:id, etc) leaves me floored. I started my migration from Firefox to Opera this week. We'll see how it goes - my experiences might make for interesting reading...

SVG 1.2? Is there any news on whether SVG 1.2 spec itself has made any progress? I doubt Opera would release something that didn't have a spec in a final review state...

Via Cartoon Brew, check out this very cool ad from Guinness. Makes me wish I had a pint right now...

Via Opera Watch. Opera has just released a preview download of their web browser Version 9 that has improved SVG support (including SVG scripting!). Examples of code that now works can be seen with the menus of my site as well as my online Tetris game.

Check out Tex Avery's classic MGM cartoon Red Hot Riding Hood on Google Video. Nice! Not exactly a cartoon for the kids but still innocent by today's standards. Incidentally, the sexy character Red was the inspiration behind Jessica Rabbit in the great film Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

About Google Video, I think it's coming along nicely. The quality of this video is about what I expected. It's odd, this video seems to be from a ripped version (as shown in the last frame), so I wonder if Warner Brothers (who owns the rights to the MGM cartoon library) knows about this. Shhh! Don't tell them!
