Via McCracken, here is some audio of a guy trying to cancel his AOL account. I'm sure if this gets enough coverage that AOL will send a Cease-and-Desist letter, but for now you can enjoy the rage you feel when listening... (Warning: one cuss word is used).
Looking at all the comments it's amazing how many people have experienced the same thing. Big businesses like this need to be sent a message...
Via Linux-Watch, this is the unbelievable Software Wars map now maintained by Steven Hilton.
I've emailed Mr. Hilton to suggest adding Adobe and the W3C as players as well as Microsoft's competitive technologies on those fronts. He states that the map is created using Inkscape, but apparently it's only published in raster form. I'd like to see the map in SVG form so that it could be scalable, have links for each technology to authoritative pages, and eventually it could be searchable when clients catch up.
Anyway, awesome/hilarious/interesting stuff in there!
I used to collect comic books as a kid throughout grade school and high school. Lately I've been getting nostalgic for those old superhero stories (maybe it's the upcoming Superman movie, I dunno). I even checked out a couple graphic novels from the library to get my comic book fix. However, it struck me that the web is a great medium for getting readers to these stories. Stumbled upon WebDevOut today while listening to some feeds. Looks like a damn good resource for tracking web standards support across a variety of web browsers. Quite extensive, and apparently all tested by hand. He must not have a full-time job! 😉
Anyway, I'm watching his blog now and I look forward to when he has included tables for SVG support.
