The IEBlog just posted videos from MIX06 (Microsoft conference in March 2006). I've watched two of the hour-long videos. Here are my take-away summaries. Read the rest of this entry ...
Check it out. Glen, Erik and Emil have been working on implementing Canvas in Internet Explorer. Looks like that's done and now up on SourceForge: Download here. An open-source project from Google... Brilliant! I only hope it's not a cruel April Fool's Joke.
Now that all 4 major browsers (IE, Firefox 1.5, Opera 9 and Safari) can do the Canvas thing, this should lead to some really interesting times. I hope they join forces with Mark Finkle and use the same cross-browser drawing API to get SVG fully implemented in IE. Me? I'll just sit back and watch the magic happen.
I reported about a month ago that Windows Live Mail (what will be the next Hotmail) didn't support the Mozilla Firefox web browser very well. It looks like they've done an update since then because now I'm able to reply, forward and move my mail messages around using Firefox. I decided to go for it, since I don't use my Hotmail account for anything critical and most of my colleagues have switched over to using my Gmail account when they want to send me an email. I was disappointed but not surprised to find out that Windows Live Mail Beta is nowhere near fully functional in Firefox and Opera. The ony things you can do are: Read your mail, Delete your mail and Write a New Message. You can't attach files to mails. You can't edit in rich text mode. You can't even reply to mails that you get from within Firefox/Opera. This is a significant step BACKWARDS in functionality that already existed in Hotmail! Read the rest of this entry ...
