Just like last year, December 1st is supposed to be Chicago's first snowstorm. So I've turned on the snow in my blog header. Now you can keep warm by hovering around your CPU.
I was looking at the comments from last year's entry and it's good to see that we've now seen definite progress from Safari's side on the whole SVG front. Still no word from IE though 🙁
My wife was watching TV in the other room and suddenly I heard Feist's 1 2 3 4 (that I wrote about only a couple weeks ago). We saw Apple's new commercial twice tonight for the colourful iPod nano. Looks like much bigger exposure for Feist.
For me, I'm still holding out on buying an Apple product - it's not a boycott, it's just that I already have a free mobile phone and a cheap DAP. We'll see how the iPodTouch fares - that might be what I need (an audio player that lets me browse the web over WiFi). Some may claim that it makes more sense to spring for the iPhone because the iPhone is only $100 more - but it's the 2-year AT&T chokehold that I dislike...

At home we've all been pretty sick the last week or so. As a result, I only recently caught this nugget. Molly Holzschlag suggests that all work should stop on HTML5, XHTML 1.1+ (and presumably CSS3?). Instead she wants everyone to "COMPLETE HTML 4.1 [sic], XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1 in specs and browsers where applicable", then "WAIT for future HTML, XHTML and CSS implementations until these implementations are complete". I can forgive the typo of HTML 4.1, but what left me reeling was that someone like Molly doesn't understand the reasons her suggestions are so impossible. Read the rest of this entry ...
Found this article on Wikipedia today that shows the release dates of some of the major web browsers out there. I did my bit to reorganize the table a lil, but more work needs to be done for some of the perhaps less known browsers.
But what I found most cool was this picture, which shows a timeline for all web browsers. If you can't see the picture, you must not be using a cool browser like Opera, Firefox or Safari.
